Membership in the Association is broken down into the
following classifications:

Honary
Member

Emeritus
Member

Full
Member: To
be elibible as a full member, an individual is engaged
a majority of the time in the broad practice of safety
or one of its relevant specialties; and:

Is
an employee of an educational entity such as a school
district or BOCES, and;
- Is
responsible, as part of their employment duties, for
safety, health or risk management and;
- Have
a minimum of two (2) year aggregate professional safety
experience within an educational setting.
All
Full Members may vote on association affairs and may be
an elected Association officer.
Associate
Member: To
be eligible as an associate Member, an individual is engaged
a majority of the time on an annual basis in the broad
practice of safety in one of its relevant specialities,
and;
- Is
an employee of an educational entity such as a school
district or BOCES, and;
- Is
responsible, as part of their employement duties, for
safety, health or risk management.
All
Associate Members may vote on Association affairs, but
are not eligible to become elected Association officers.
Student
Member: To
be eligible as a Student Member, an individual is enrolled
in an accredited college or university offering a graduate
or undergraduate degree curriculum intended to prepare
the individual for practice in the safety profession or
one of its relevant specialties. The student will apply
for membership in writing and declare on that application
the intention to enter the profession upon graduation.
The Student Member classification may be retained until
the member has graduated.
Affiliate
Member: Affiliate
membership may be granted to those professionals who are
active within the safety profession but do not meet the
qualifications for association membership. Such affiliate
members may be employed within the private or corporate
sector with varying interests and backgrounds. Upon successfully
completing the admissions process, the applicant will
be included into the association as an Affiliate Member
according to the procedures found in the bylaws.
Affiliate
Members cannot vote on association affairs or become elected
association officers. Where the presence of any Affiliate
Member may compromise the objectives of the association
or give rise to conflict of interest or impropriety, that
person may be excluded from portions of any regular meeting
where the discussion may create such conditions.
